If we’re lucky, families march forward with the genes and stories of our brief stay here – it’s our sort of immortality. A long time ago SAM and I joined that parade, following in the footsteps of our parents, and their parents. Now they’re all gone, but we can look back and see the ranks filling in behind. So, it is a wonderful and happy event when the next generation is born. Today, SAM’s daughter, Stacey, and husband Mark welcomed their first daughter Chelsea Sutton Hutzler at 4:35AM, 47cm, 3.1 Kg. (6 lbs, 12 oz.) All doing fine. Cue the fireworks.

Birds are singing all around Washington and Annapolis, the Hudson valley, in Tucson, and in the Blue Ridge, not to mention the southern coast of California.
